For any of you that played pool in Michigan team  events, you would know Kip and Carrol Curtis. They  spent many years bringing pool tournaments to  everyone in Northern Michigan. Even after being  together for over 40 years, Kip and Carol were  inseparable until June 29th. It is with a heavy heart  that we pass along news of Kip's passing to all of  you. He talked to several players about a week before  he died, and asked them to make sure we don’t forget  him. He was really happy that so many pool players  had sent well wishes to him. He was in good spirits  and was at peace with what was coming his way.  Kip’s life ended the way he lived it – surrounded by  his family and those he loved.  Hubert “Kip” Esty Curtis, 63, of Ypsilanti Township,  died June 29, 2010 after losing his battle with cancer.  Kip was born May 4, 1947 in Mountain Grove  Missouri to the Rev. Leo R. and Violet Lorane (Ellis)  Curtis. On December 6, 1969 he married Judy Carrol  Baker in Ypsilanti. He loved playing softball and  played, coached and sponsored various teams for  over 30 years. He was the owner of Kip and Carrol  Sports before retiring, at which time he and Carrol  moved to St. Helen. He also loved to play pool, and  after he retired he became one of the main driving  forces in the organization of competitive team pool in  Michigan. He loved all sports, but in addition to  softball and pool he was especially fond of fishing  and hunting. Sports were important to him, but it  became apparent at his funeral that the most  important things in his life were his family and  friends.   Surviving are his wife, Carrol; daughter, Angela  Robyn (Mike) Warden; son, Jerry Chad Curtis;  granddaughter, Kayla Nycole Warden; his mother,  Violet Curtis; two sisters and one brother, Sondra   Michigan Mourns
